Ironman Malaysia Travel

I had trouble updating my website from Malaysia so I wasn't able to post blog updates and photos while I was there. Now that I'm back in Austin I'm posting my race and travel reports from my trip to Malaysia. On this page, I'm posting non-race pictures and bits from my traveling in Malaysia. I had about 11 days before the race to acclimate to the heat and prepare for the race. After the race, I had another 3 days to explore the island of Langkawi and another day in Kuala Lumpure because I scheduled a 24 hour layover on my flight Newest Online Casinos with No Deposit Bonuses to go explore the city. I can tell you without a doubt that the Malaysian people are the kindest and warmest people I've met around the world. Every person I met would bend over backward to treat me well and make me feel comfortable. I was amazed at the country and the people.

Here are some non-race picture from my trip to Malaysia

This was the view from my hotel balcony. This is looking directly out on the race course. The swim course and finish line are straight ahead.

A view out by the swim course.

There were monkeys everywhere. In the trees, on the road, on the bike course. I took a pic of this guy just chilling by the side of the road. Though for my website, I did have to sensor the pic....let's just say that it's a boy.

This is about a 1/2 mile from the race site at the Westin Resort at their private beach. Couldn't afford to stay here!

Rented a car to go drive the course with my new-found aussi friends. (From left: Anthony, Trent, Dan)

One of the many beautiful beaches on the island that we made sure to check out and take a quick dip.

This sneaky little guy decided to climb up on our car to see if he could get a hand-out. Tough luck buddy.

Two days after the race we took a 4 hour boat tour where they took us to little islands to swim, lay on the beach, see eagle feeding, etc. The best part was that the 4 hour trip cost 45RM = $13, yes the best $13 I've ever spent in my entire life!

Nature preserve island where boat let us off.

Best scene ever. We saw this guy walking and three monkeys jumped this guy to steal his chips. In panic, he dropped his backpack and they ravaged it looking for food. It was the funniest thing ever. This guy was helpless as he got totally robbed by monkeys.

This was a fresh water lake on one of the islands where they dropped us off. A perfect place to take a dip

Had 24 hours in Kuala Lumpur. So I checked my bags and bike at the airport and set out on foot for a day to see the city.

Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur

Market where you can buy any copy/pyrated/ripped off good. It's like 4 city blocks of handbags, shoes, DVDs, hats, jeans, belts, sunglasses, watches, wallets, you name it. If they make a knock off, it's here.

The narrow alleyway of knock offs. I just loved walking through and having all the guys yell at me about how cheap their goods were. They all assumed I was Australian because of how I looked, so they would all yell "hey mate" to try to get me into their little stall.

Last dinner out in Kuala Lumpur before I headed back to the states.
